The Labyrinth of Life - or something like that !

In order to feed my constantly overthinking and daydreaming mind, I fed it with the thought of life and the labyrinth (one of the consequences of reading too many literature classics, you could say!). I am not a huge fan of mazes or even maze puzzles and never really wondered why. But I, sure am intrigued when it comes to the labyrinth of life. Because all my life I have always had a plan mostly like a 5-year plan and I haven't gone anywhere without an itinerary. Being spontaneous or impulsive is something that scares me to life. As much as I believe in destiny, it is not really easy for me to leave everything to nature's plan and "go with the flow". As much as I have heard "be water" I could not be because I am hard as ice when it comes to change and spontaneity. But if at all I have learned in my 20s it is that, no matter how much we plan to escape the labyrinth of life, it finds us and makes sure we pass through it.

As much as I have planned, life hardly went the way I wanted it to be, some broke me and some made me but what stands with me till today is the fact that 'life only gives you what you can handle and sometimes, irrespective of whether we understand certain things in that exact moment it's happening, the moments and the lessons we learn along the path of this beautifully scary maze makes the most of this life. For me, it took a really long time to come to terms with this labyrinth because I was so cautious about avoiding it as if it is something bad or something that ruins the beauty of the life I have planned for myself.

When I found myself in the labyrinth (when I wrote one of my previous blogs - Luminal space), to my surprise I found that I am more flexible than I thought I had been and that I am not as sad as I thought I would be for not having something I thought I will have at that given moment. I understood what content really means and how it has got very little to do with the things we have. As much as this maze confuses me because at times I feel like I have explored every path that there is, only to realize there is always more and that there is no one destination.

Recently, I saw the Netflix movie "Look both ways" and it was as if the universe's way of telling me to dig more into the 'labyrinth of life' because the protagonist in the movie goes out to explore two ways of life, only to find that either way she is happy, and content as much as she was sad and confused in both of them. I couldn't help but think, what if this maze called life works the same way? No matter the path we take, some are meant to be taken because it requires us to learn something new to come out as the person this life has intended us to be and some are meant to be taken to un-learn everything we have learned to go through this life as the person that we are meant to be. And some are meant to be taken to be lived in that exact moment, without giving it much thought.

Easier said than done, right? What about the people we meet in the maze? We don't just meet them, do we? We love them, we hate them and some we want to run together with and some, run away from. But maybe we meet these people because whether it is a maze or life, no path gives more meaning when traveling alone. As social animals, it is innate that we crave each other. But just because you have crossed some of the hardest paths with me, will it be alright for me to want you to drop your search and join mine? I'm afraid not! This labyrinth is for us to explore, for us to understand. Even the love of my life could never really comprehend the nightmares I had to endure during this journey and neither can I when it comes to them. But understanding one's own journey will definitely give us the strength and compassion to see and understand what it takes to be on a maze that is constantly changing its course.

Knowing that, how can I ever hold on to hatred or grudge, or even jealousy? We have never been and never will be on the same path, so when our path crosses I will make sure that my kindness will accompany you. I have not been very kind to myself while I was figuring this puzzle out, so forgive me if I have not been kind to you. This applies to anyone and everyone who has known me, because like I haven't been kind to myself, you haven't been kind to yourself and that is why we both bled when we met. Amidst untangling this beautiful maze, I understand what it means to have a ground that is helping me stand still, my family and friends. Even when lost, you are my guiding light.

The labyrinth is teaching me to question the bits of driven, linear, achievement-based dysfunction that can make me miserable in a life of incredible blessings and good fortune. We didn’t enter life to get it done. There is no place not worth revisiting. We double back to find the pieces of ourselves that still clutch the same issues like a baby clutching its pacifier. Compassion invited us to this unbearably repetitive, slow, complex path of self-discovery, to show us that only when we surrender our idea of how things should be going do we notice that the entire thing is breathtakingly beautiful.

Through the bars

   Not often do we expect some of our usual days to turn into heavy hearted ones. It was one such day when I went to my nearest pet shop to buy dog food for my pet. When I came out of the shop there was this little guy all alone inside the cage, with eyes full of expectations and sadness that is hidden deep inside the attractive eyes. His voice was a sharp cry that made me go down to him. I put my finger through the bars for his reach and he licked them. I don't know what he wanted to convey but I understood the deprived feeling of a 45 day old pup who aches for nothing but a mother's love. He looked for love outside the bars where people starred at him for a while and moved on but he looked into every eyes that passed against him with the belief of getting adopted.

Isn't it mysterious to see how this little creature can love an entirely different being so much that he places them before his self? Dogs are indeed the angels sent by God to make the humans learn how trust actually looks like. Opening our arms to these furry ones and opening our heart to these dolls is a blessing in disguise to get drenched in the love of these species. The love they bestow on us is indeed an act of selfless love that every individual has to experience. They teach a lot of things that we humans fail to understand or has left them behind on the journey towards the 'fast-nothing'.

He would be adopted by someone who is immensely blessed to have him around because he'll give them love that will last a lifetime and even beyond. Dogs and their selfless love will have a greater impact that anything else will ever do. I often wonder if I'm the only one who marvel the love that dogs share with us. May be because I am touched solely by their love, I feel myself blessed to be love by them; to be in love with them. I firmly believe that "Sometimes angles choose fur instead of wings".

An act of Kindness...!

   This is an incident that is believed to have happened during the age of Ram who is known for his rule. He remained a successful ruler and a passionate lover. This is a very short story related to Ramayana about Ram and a frog. Ram and his brother Lakshman reached a stream and were thirsty. They went towards the stream to quench their thirst. Ram struck his arrow into the ground near the stream and went to drink water. When Ram was back, he pulled out the arrow from the ground. He was astonished to find blood on the tip of his arrow. He looked down and saw a small frog. His arrow had pierced the frog, pinning it to the ground. Ram was sad. He asked the frog, “Why didn’t you cry out when the arrow pierced you?” The frog replied, “Whenever someone tries to harm me I cry out, “Ram, save me! When Ram himself pierces me with his arrow to whom can I cry out for help?”

    This incident got so deep into me and gave a lot of answers; it also left me wondering how great Ram is as a person. He was a King and it is not vital for him to go and apologize to a frog for his mistake that was completely unintentional. He there has explained how an act of kindness matters no matter how big you are or how small the other person is. If he is being portrayed as the Lord it is because he possessed qualities that made him to stand out of the rest. It is not that only Lord Ram can show kindness but he is the one who has showed that kindness is something more than a virtue and it is more human rather than divine.

    I firmly believe that Ram is a legendary person who has turned into a Lord because of his attributes, but also believe that tales about his reign were not fables. A person of such tenderness also possessed unimaginable valor to win over a war against the mighty Ravan. He was everything a man could ever be. He was a great ruler and I wish there could be any politician of this century who could to the least try to rule like Ram. This incident was not just an act of kindness but also an act of being a responsible ruler. He was sad for a frog because he cerebrates this as his fault and this takes a huge part in being a King. He concerns for a frog so how he would have been to his people, it would have been a blessing to have lived under his shadow. No matter how fast time flows some legends are always remembered.

    ‘Ram’ a person who has taught that being kind is not a weakness but a virtue to be cherished. In my given time I’d like to follow his footprints and believe that it will make me a good human. After all life is an act and Kindness is the theme.

A Love in my life. . .!!!

Pet is a common thing in everyone's life. . .but to have a pet who has become a part of your
life. . .precisely. . .your life. . .is not a common thing. . .and that was happened in my
life. . .i could not mention him as a pet. . .as he was a member of our little family. . .
like he was my elder brother than a pet dog. . .i still remember my mom saying that toffy
was her first kid and i'm only the second. . .it does hurt then but now am feeling proud
to have a mom like her. . .He was considered very special coz he was the engagement gift
to my mom from my dad. . .he was an one month pup on that time. . .and i'm pretty sure
that he would have not missed his mum that much. . .as my mom gave him complete love
as a mother. . .its more like a story of  "MARLEY AND ME". .his presence made me feel
that life is worth living for someone like him as he not just a dog. .. i have never
and ever mentioned him in that term and never will. . .His eyes told me many things
that none has ever even tried to teach me. . .he taught me love. ..sharing. . .
As i was the only kid. . .the term sharing has no meaning or even a place in my dictionary
but i loved to share everything with him. . .he was more like a brother to me. . .
I could remember an incident that happend when i was 5. . my mom scolded me badly as i
refused to eat spinach. . at that time that scoldings hurt me very badly. . .my dad was at
work. . .i couldn't resist my tears.  ..i could not cry before my mom. . .so who would be my
choice. . .i finally ended up confessing to him. .i neither have anidea of what he understood
nor what i confessed at that age. . .but the relation what we both had ccould never be
expressed in words. . .

   And after him i have raised nearly 5 pets and i'm telling you he is definetely not a
random dog. . .i gave the same love actually more love to the next pets than i gave him
but what i got in return was entirely different. . .but ofcourse they loved me but i'm
sure that thats not as much as he did. . .he was something very special to me. . .i was
able to see the beauty in his eyes which i could not find in any other pups. .!!! I could
remember him treating me as a kid. . .but the thing is. .he was a kid too. . he is a
matured dog. . .a well matured one. . .I seriously have no idea of what i gave him when
he was with me. . .but the moment he left me.  . .i started to feel his presence even
more . . .this may seem more for a dog. . .but if he is seen as a best buddy this is
nothing. . .and he was the best companion i ever had. . .

    I have wondered a lot of times thinking why he is very special to me. . .and till
now i have no reason for that and that may be coz "LOVE WITHOUT REASONS LAST THE LONGEST"
yeah. . .it has been nearly around 8 years since i lost him. . .but my love for him is
getting bigger every second. . .and may be thats why from the minute i lost him. . .
i could see his presence in every animal's eye. . .

    Never could i digest was that i was not with him during his last minutes. . .
He would have missed me and his(my) mum and dad right??!!! But i could tell you that
my dad is the one who is missing him even more. . .coz toffy is the first and last
name he used to call . . .and for all the other pets we raised. . .he never said their
names. . .no one could. . .when you have someone who loves you more than anyother could
and you loose him all of a sudden. . .like. . .he came to you like a dream and disappears
like a dream. . .its like. . .thats when you hate the term "DREAM". . .but he wasn't a
dream to me. .. he was more than a reality . . .Even now if ever have a wish. . .i would wish
to have him back. . .with immortality. . .i ll never and ever wanna loose him again. . .
He was the love in my life. . .he is. . .and he will be. . .

    I have longed to have a friend after his death. . .and i never got true ones. . .and
that s may be coz. . .NO ONE COULD EVER REPLACE HIS PLACE IN MY HEART AND LIFE. . .
i dont want anyone to. . .coz isn't it a great feel to have someone loving you more than
you do. . .n he's not your being to communicate the love. . . but you could just feel
it through his eyes. . .!!!! ITS AWESOME!!!!

    He loved us soo much . . .so did we. . .but . . .why did u leave us toffy. . ??
Is it coz even God want to have you as his pet. . .or as a companion. . .but how
is it possible??? Coz when you have someone who loves you more than god he could not
take him right??!!! So god has betrayed me. . .But even now i'm praying to have you
my sweetheart. . .will you ever come back to me??? I want to have you again toffy. .
Uh. . .this blog has become a confession than a blog. . .but never mind. . .

  THe thing is wherever you are WE LOVE YOU TOFFY!!!!!!!

                   YOU AND I , THE DAYS TOGETHER WE SPENT,
                        FROM DAY ONE OF MY BIRTH;
                           YOU GAVE ME LOVE;
                        AS SWEET AS HONEY COMB;
                   EVERY MORNING WHEN USED TO WAKE ME UP;
                GAVE ME JOY THAT WOKE ME UP FROM MY SORROWS;
                   THE LOVE AND AFFECTION WE BOTH HAD,
                      SAYS TO BE WITH YOU ALWAYS,
                BUT NEVER COULD I DIGEST IS THAT MY LITTLE
                                           TOFFY IS NO MORE. . . !
