Nala Dhamayanthi..!!!

Have you ever believed in love without having seen each other before? Well I don't until I came across this love story that happened centuries ago in the age of "Dwaparayuga".

There was this king named 'Nala' who was a gifted charioteer and a brave king. The kingdom prospered under his rule. Despite being the most handsome men of that time he still remained unmarried. One day he caught a swan and when the swan begged for its life he asked the swan to spread his valor to places the swan visits. The swan promised the same and started to sing songs about King Nala. Wanting Nala to get married a brahmin came to his court. The brahmin said he wants to check the artistic skills of King Nala and hence suggested the name "Dhamayanti" to him. Nala drew the potrait of a girl and named her Dhamayanti, little did he know that there was a princess named Dhamayanthi the daughter of King Vidharbha. Nala fell in love with the potrait even without seeing her.

On the other side the swan visited the kingdom of Vidharbha and started singing the songs of Nala. The Princess wanted to have the swan for its gift of singing and its beautiful appearance. The swan was taken to the kingdom and the princess listened to the tales of King Nala all day and inadvertently fell in love with him. As they say "Marriages are decided in heaven" the time has come and King Vidharbha invited Nala along with other kings to atten the Suyamvara of Princess Dhamayanti. Dhamayanthi was so beautiful and it was believed even the Gods wanted to marry her. So the invite was sent to everyone. Knowing her love for Nala the Gods Indra, Kali disguised themselves as Nala and gave Dhamayanti the challenge of finding the true Nala.

Dhamayanthi not only good in looks but also sharp in brains found Nala with a trick. She choosed the one who had shadow (as it is believed that Gods don't have shadows). But Kali then angrily vows to the cause of the downfall of King Nala. Kali from then waited for the chance to bring Nala down. After 12 years of marriage Kali sent his brother Pushkara to play the game of dice with King Nala. And as Kali wanted Nala lost the game and was abandoned to forest. In the forest Nala and Dhamayanthi lived happily and that is where she discovered the culinary skills of her husband and fell in love with him even more. In the forest Nala saved a naga from fire, the naga was Karakotaka who returned the favor by giving him the boon of disguising. Nala abandoned Dhamayanthi concerned about her safety and left to the kingdom of Rituparana and started to work as a chef. Knowing this Dhamayanthi's father came to her rescue but she wanted to find her husband back.

Hence she asked her father to arrange a festival where she wanted the greatest cooks of all the kingdom to participate. Nala was disguised as Vahuka a dwarf working in the kitchens of King Ritupurana. Dhamayanthi was waiting on her balcony listening to the hoof beats as the carriages passed her palace. She immediately recognized the hoof beats of the chariot being driven by Nala. She sent a maid to inquire who had arrived and was informed that it was King Ritupurana and his Chief chef. Dhamayanthi then asked her maid to smuggle some food item made by the chef and to her surprise she found out it was her husband Nala disguised. Throwing all the decorum to the winds she ran down to meet her husband and was stunned to see a dwarf. She asked "Why does a man want to send his dutiful wife back to her father's home?"
The man replied "Because he has lost his kingdom and cannot support his wife in the manner she was accustomed to before their marriage".
Dhamayanthi's lotus red eyes began to shed tears and that is when Nala showed his original form to relieve her from distress. She then said "It is not the customs that make a wife happy but being with her husband in the good and bad".

The story of Sita and Ram..!!!

How to start? Where to start? It has been weeks together since I fell in love with their love story and still crawling my way towards reality. The story of Ram and Sita…what a love story it has been. The way they both understood each other and how intensely in love they both were. It was magical as it made me spell bound to even not to think about it. But why am I writing this now? Everyone one knows how dear they were to each other. I am writing this because I am not convinced by the way the story has ended, the way how Ram has abandoned Sita for the sake of his people and how Sita left handing over her sons Lava and Kusa to Ram to rule. No! This is not how a perfect love story could have ended, I wish I could change it but I know I can’t so here I am writing their end in the way I want it to be.

After all the twist and turns the fate has put before them they overcame all those struggles with the power of their love. Sita accompanied him anywhere without a question, she just wanted to be with him no matter what. To her it doesn’t matter to starve to death or to live to the fullest but to be with him-Ram. If not for him she will not be living any of this. On the other hand Ram never failed to reciprocate the selfless love Sita gave him. He loved her more than anyone in the entire world. They were complete with each other; they were everything they could ever ask for.

They came to Ayodhya after the killing of Ravan and were all set to rule the Kingdom (this is where my version of Ramayana begins). It was one fine evening when Ram was repeatedly exclaiming his love to Sita; she sat mesmerized into his velvet voice. She then looked into his eyes as he held her face in his hands, she said she is pregnant and Ram could not control the excitement of this news and could not wait to tell his mothers about it. When they all knew it was time for Sita to spend her maternity period at her father’s. But she said “Being with Ram gives me happiness that cannot be contemplated by anyone else and I want to spend my maternity days with him, under the warmth of his love and embrace”.

Everyone remained awestruck to accept the fact how hard it was for them to live without each other even for a minute. But Ram was informed about the discontent and questions targeted on Sita among the populace. Ram fought through the whole situation himself and decided to abandon the Kingdom by leaving the throne to Bharat-his younger brother. He did not want the people to abuse his family; he hardly felt the necessity of justifying Sita’s virtue to them for he knows who she really is. All he wanted was to give her everything she deserves and doesn’t want Sita to know all this. He didn’t sleep properly that night and it was when he realized the real complications of the issue for he knows that his brothers will not take up the throne. Their brotherhood was so delicate that he could not break their hearts, yet he cannot imagine losing Sita at the price of the people who hardly knows the sacrifice she has done for him.

As the Sun rose for a new day Ram has made up his mind for a new beginning. Instead of discussing he ordered his brothers to take up the throne and has said that he has decided to leave the kingdom for some time and it is their duty to take care of the throne after him. He didn’t even bother asking Sita to leave the Kingdom for he knows she will not even ask ‘Where’ when he takes her with him. She trusted him with her life. She was happy to spend her time with Ram; no matter where he has decided to take her she was happy about it.

They left Ayodhya and reached a place where people are not aware of their identity. He served a sage while Sita took care of the households. Though the sage was aware of who they were he never revealed it, he felt blessed to have them around his place no matter what the reason is. It was their happy place, she could not ask for a better maternity time. After a long time Ram felt relieved about all his decisions. After 9 months Sita gave birth to adorable twins and they named them lava and Kusa. Once they turned 6 Ram and Sita decided to send them to Rishi Valmiki’s hermitage. It was there they both learned about the life of Ram and Sita and was unaware they were the children of Ram and Sita. They both were fluent in dictating the life of Ram and Sita and hence were taken to Ayodhya to spread the story. It was there Lakshman, Bharat and Chatrukan grew suspicious of the irresistible serenity in their eyes, they were sure about the resemblance the twins had.

On enquiring they came to know about their parents and wanted to visit them and in the mean time the people of Ayodhya realized their fault and were desperate for Ram’s reign. When the brothers met Ram and Sita they were happy together. It was magical to see them both responding to each other like a magnet, there was no way Ram could live without Sita. They both together made them alive and without any one the other will be lifeless. Lakshman and his brothers requested their brother and Sita to come and rule the Kingdom again clarifying that the people of Ayodhya has realized their mistake and want him to rule them over. But Ram said he is content in living his life with Sita and now he has his brothers to take good care of their sons. He said “Lakshman, Bharat, Chatrukan you all are great rulers and it is of no question to know that the people are prosperous in your kingdom. But for me I am done being a ruler and now I handle over to you the greatest blessing of our lives Lava and Kusa, it is your responsibility to preach them well . We both have decided to leave this town and we are happy this way”.

They both were really happy that way, he never abandoned her, what she would have become if he has abandoned her? Is there a possibility for Sita to live without him? They covered their identity and lived happily ever after while the brothers waited for Lava and Kusa to attain the age to take up the throne and even they followed their brother to eternity. The love they both had for each other fought destiny and has faced all the possible odds. It is humanly impossible to describe the amount of love they had for each other, I have no idea what they both have done to me but I am glad that I happened to read their story. Ram is often praised for being a great ruler but it is a notable fact that he was also a passionate lover and only he knows how much Sita meant to him.

An act of Kindness...!

This is an incident that is believed to have happened during the age of Ram who is known for his rule. He remained a successful ruler and a passionate lover. This is a very short story related to Ramayana about Ram and a frog. Ram and his brother Lakshman reached a stream and were thirsty. They went towards the stream to quench their thirst. Ram struck his arrow into the ground near the stream and went to drink water. When Ram was back, he pulled out the arrow from the ground. He was astonished to find blood on the tip of his arrow. He looked down and saw a small frog. His arrow had pierced the frog, pinning it to the ground. Ram was sad. He asked the frog, “Why didn’t you cry out when the arrow pierced you?” The frog replied, “Whenever someone tries to harm me I cry out, “Ram, save me! When Ram himself pierces me with his arrow to whom can I cry out for help?”

This incident got so deep into me and gave a lot of answers; it also left me wondering how great Ram is as a person. He was a King and it is not vital for him to go and apologize to a frog for his mistake that was completely unintentional. He there has explained how an act of kindness matters no matter how big you are or how small the other person is. If he is being portrayed as the Lord it is because he possessed qualities that made him to stand out of the rest. It is not that only Lord Ram can show kindness but he is the one who has showed that kindness is something more than a virtue and it is more human rather than divine.

I firmly believe that Ram is a legendary person who has turned into a Lord because of his attributes, but also believe that tales about his reign were not fables. A person of such tenderness also possessed unimaginable valor to win over a war against the mighty Ravan. He was everything a man could ever be. He was a great ruler and I wish there could be any politician of this century who could to the least try to rule like Ram. This incident was not just an act of kindness but also an act of being a responsible ruler. He was sad for a frog because he cerebrates this as his fault and this takes a huge part in being a King. He concerns for a frog so how he would have been to his people, it would have been a blessing to have lived under his shadow. No matter how fast time flows some legends are always remembered.

‘Ram’ a person who has taught that being kind is not a weakness but a virtue to be cherished. In my given time I’d like to follow his footprints and believe that it will make me a good human. After all life is an act and Kindness is the theme.

Karn- The one who projected himself beyond his self..!

Karna was the son of Kunti from the Sun God. The story is that Kunti, while still very young, had occasion to serve Rishi (sage) Durvasha. She looked after him with great dedication. Durvasha was highly pleased. He gave Kunti a mantra(chant) and said that whichever God she would think of after reciting the mantra, would appear before her and bless her with a son endowed with his own godly qualities.

Kunti got scared and wanted the Sun God to go away, but he pleaded his helplessness against the power of mantra. Surya however assured Kunti that even after being blessed with a son, she would still remain a virgin and would not have to suffer any opprobrium. And so Karna was born with kavach and kundal (armor which would make him invincible). Kunti was nevertheless afraid of social stigma and therefore she abandoned the child. She put Karna in a basket and placed the same in the Ganges river, the basket was seen by Adhirath, a charioteer, who had no issues. He picked up the baby and brought him up. That is why Karna is also sometimes referred to as Sarathiputra.

Kunti was later married to Maharaja(King)  Pandu. One day when Pandu had gone for hunting, he killed a deer with an arrow. Actually, it was a Rishi who had taken the form of deer and was enjoying with his mate. The Rishi cursed Pandu that he would similarly die whenever he would mate with his wife. Maharaja Pandu thereupon retired to the forest and started living a life of abstinence. At this stage, Kunti confided in him the blessing given by Rishi Durvasha. Pandu exhorted her to use the mantras. That is how her other sons Yudhishthir, Bhim and Arjuna were born. (Nakul and Sahdeva were born off Madri).

Karna was keen to acquire the Brahmastra mantra from the great teacher Parshuram.  However, he knew that Parshuram gave instructions to Brahmins (the priestly tribe)  only.  So he disguised as a Brahmin and beseeched  Parshuram to accept him as a shishya(disciple).  Parshuram accepted him as such and started giving him instructions.  One day when Parshuram was resting in Karnas lap, it so happened that a bee stung Karna on the lower portion of his thigh.  It was very painful and he started bleeding.  However, fearing that if he moved his legs, he would awaken Parshuram, he did not move at all and continued to suffer.  When Parshuram woke up, he saw Karna bleeding.  He asked, Son, tell me truthfully who you are? A Brahmin cannot suffer so much physical pain.  Only a kshattriya (the warrior tribe) can endure so much discomfort.  Karna was obliged to disclose his identity.  Parshuram was greatly annoyed because he was a sworn enemy of Kshattriyas.  He therefore cursed Karna that as he had learnt through deceit, he shall forget the vidya (skill) which Parshuram had taught him at the crucial juncture.

Duryodhana and his 99 brothers were jealous and sworn enemies of their cousins, the Pandava brothers (King Panadava's sons).   Meanwhile Duryodhan, the son of Pandus brother (and now king) Dhritrashtra patronised Karna and made him the king of Angadesh.  Duryodhan, in fact, built him up as a counterweight to Arjuna.  On the eve of the famous Mahabharata battle, Lord Indra, the rain God and king of heavens,  disguised as an old Brahmin went to Karna and asked for his Kavach and Kundal in daan (donation).  Indra was apprehensive that Karna, by virtue of his phenomenal skills as a warrior,  may be able to overwhelm Arjuna.  He  therefore asked for this gift so as to reduce his strength.  Karna had been cautioned by the Sun God that Lord Indra was going to make some such move. But Karna was so large hearted that he could not refuse anyone.  Knowing fully well, that Indra was playing a trick on him disguised as a Brahmin, he yet parted with his Kavach and Kundal, which were parts of his body since birth and which made him invincible.  Lord Indra was taken aback at Karna's capacity to give away anything asked for.  He said, Karna, what you have done today, no ordinary mortal could have done.  I am immensely pleased with your generosity.  You can ask for any vardaan.   Karna said, If you are really pleased with me, then you may kindly give me your weapon Shakti which has the potential to destroy any enemy.  Lord Indra gave Shakti to Karna with the proviso however that he could use it only once and that thereafter the weapon shall return to him (Lord Indra).

Pashurams curse was to prove Karnas undoing.  At the Kurukshetra battle, when face to face with Arjuna, Karna forgot the Brahmastra mantra taught to him by Parshuram.  The wheels of his chariot sank in soft earth and he was immobilised.  At that time, Arjuna defeated him.  While Karna was on his deathbed, Lord Krishna had a dispute regarding Karna's generosity and to settle the same they came disguised as beggars.   Karna responded to the beggars by saying that he had nothing left to give,   On realizing the fact, Karna took the arrow from his heart and took his blood containing his bliss gave it to the beggars, epitomising the "way of life" he led.

That was the end of Karna, one of the greatest warriors of Mahabharata who was also the greatest daanveer.  A man who would never refuse the request for any gift or donation, howsoever costly that might be and irrespective of the consequences of giving to his own well being or security.

Abhimanyu..!

Epics and Myths has always had great warriors yet this boy has made history to pause a moment by his valor. Every one during that period considered him to be the greatest warrior in all times. They all believed that this boy would create an remarkable position in history. But time was so cruel and may be it would have not had the capacity to withhold his talents and may be that's why his fate's design was so crucial and died when he was just 16. He is "Abhimanyu".Abhimanyu was the most illustrious of the Pandavas and Kauravas of his generation.

Abhimanyu inherited both courage and fighting ability from his father, Arjun, and his grandfather, Lord Indra. He was considered to be an equal to his father owing to his prodigious feats. Abhimanyu participated in the Mahabharat war when he was 16 years old. During the Mahabharat war, Abhimanyu held at bay many great warriors such as Drona, Karna, Ashwatamma, Duryodhana and Duchasana. It was felt that the only warrior on the Kurushetra battlefield that could beat him was Bhisma and Karna.

Abhimanyu's education began while he was still in Shubadra's womb. He overheard Arjun telling Shubadra the secrets of how to enter, destroy and exit from, various battle formations. Of these, it is of note, that he only heard how to enter (but not exit or destroy) the secret of the Chakravyuha formation as Shubadra fell asleep and thus Arjun could not complete his explanation. Krishna realizing that if Abhimanyu learns the entire strategy, he would tilt the balance entirely in favor of the Pandavas, stops Arjuna from continuing the lecture, therefore Abhimanyu learns only how to enter the Chakra Vyuha.
Abhimanyu spent his childhood in Dwaraka, his mother's city. He was trained by Pradyumana, the son of Sri Krishna. He was also influenced by his great warrior father Arjun, and brought up under the guidance of Krishna and Balram .

Abhimanyu's short but eventful life gains the most prominence on the thirteenth day of the war when he is made to enter the powerful Padmavyuha battle formation of the Kaurava army.On the side of the Pandavas, only Pradyumna, Krishna, and Arjuna were aware of the secret technique to break this seven-tier defensive spiral formation used by Dronacharya. Susharma lures Arjuna away from the battlefield. This leaves Abhimanyu to break the Chakravyuh. Abhimanyu gladly accepts to help the Pandavas break the Chakravyuh but he also makes it known to them that his knowledge is limited to breaking in and didn't know how to exit. As promised, Abhimanyu enters the Chkravyuh followed by his kinsman. The spectacular formation and the speed with which Abhimanyu breaks through was overwhelming for the others and they were left far behind. Abhimanyu puts on a brave fight against all the atirathis.

Abhimanyu was a courageous and dashing warrior. Determined to exit the Chakravyuha by shattering it from within, Abhimanyu goes on rampage, reaching the heart of the trap. Fighting with such ferocity, none from the Kaurava side could best him in a one-on-one combat.Abhimanyu really proves very expensive for the Kaurava army, destroying 3/4 of their army single-handedly. Incensed at the admiration that those like Kripacharya and Drona express for Abhimanyu, Duryodhana attacks the boy.

Abhimanyu leaves Duryodhana chariotless and weaponless, bleeding all over. With a single arrow, he also kills Duryodana's son Lakshmana, who had come to defend his father. Enraged, Duryodhana orders all the Kaurava maharathis to attack Abhimanyu, who with disgust, counters all their attacks. He then attempts to arrest Duryodhana. Stung by Duryodhana's doubts in his abilities, Drona suggests that Abhimanyu could only be killed through illicit means. His comments are met with agreement, and Karna snaps Abhimanyu's bow while Drona and Kripa kill Abhimanyu's horses and charioteers. Abhimanyu draws a sword and shield and continues to wreak havoc on the Kaurava army, only to be disarmed from afar once again. Drona destroys the hilt of the sword and Karna destroys the shield. The Kaurava forces team up and kill a defenseless Abhimanyu, who famously uses the wheel of a broken chariot to fend of attackers in lieu of his weapons. The wheel is broken into fragments by the enemy forces.

But Abhimanyu was surrounded by multiple warriors and killed. In their blood fury, the warriors inappropriately dance and celebrate around Abhimanyu's lifeless body.It has been said that the Time has closed its eyes for a moment to see Abhimanyu dead. He was indeed a great warrior. A fierceful young warrior.

Kunti-An epitome of motherhood...!!

Kunti- Born into a yadhav family for Shurasena. He as an reward for friendship gave Pradha to his friend Kunti-Bhoja(King of Kunti-Bhoja Kingdom) who fostered Pradha as Kunti. The king then had a son Vashudhev. He believed that his country prospers because of Kunti's charm. In her maidenhood she showed such respectful devotion to the sage Duruvas, that he gave her a charm by means of which she might have a child by any god she pleased to invoke. She was so suspicious to believe that God will come before her by the spell. One day she went to try that. She casted the spell to Lord Surya(Sun) , He showed himself before her and gave her a son.She refused to accept it uttering the fact that she is unmarried and the society will dishonor her for this action. Lord Surya said that he is supposed to give a son upon the sage's charm. He also named the baby boy as Karn . And he was gifted with kavach and kundal that makes him invincible and protects him from all the evils. She was gruesome for having a child before marriage and had no other go but to let him go. She placed him inside a treasure box with her saree and jewels covered with lotus flowers and made it to float on River Ganges. It appeared like all her tears has been turned into River to carry the child.

With such guilt trip inside her she came to know about the Suyamavar arranged for her by the king Kunti-Bhoja. She wanted someone who will understand her guilt but she knew that if she tells this out , it will bring disgrace to her family. With lot of confessions inside her she attended the suyamvar. She told her father that she wants to learn an appropriate answer for the Princes who have gathered and the one who says the right answer will only be able to marry her. She asked the reason for Lord Rama to release Agaligai, who was cursed to become a stone by her husband(Gautam Rishi) for the act of not knowing the difference between her husband and Lord Indra who disguised himself as her husband. Many Prince said many answers but none where satisfying . Prince Pandu stood up and answered that Lord Rama freed her from the curse because mistakes done without knowledge could be forgiven . And Kunti felt that her action would be forgiven too and she accepted him as her Husband.

As Pandu was named the King of Astinapur, Kunti arrived there as a Queen. Gandhari (Wife of Dhridhrastra) welcomed her with a warm heart. As a king he was supposed to go to a war on the same day of their wedding. Kunti was desperate. After a long time the messenger came up with the news that King Pandu had won the battle . She was delighted to meet him with glory. When he reached Astinapur , a news gave her heart a pounce. She came to know that King Pandu has won Madra kingdom along with it's princess Madri as a sign of peace among the two kingdoms . On the same day of one's wedding how can a girl be able to accept her Husband marrying another Princess? Even though marrying a lot of Princess was a normal habit of kings as an event of peaceful relationship between the two kingdoms, it'll be terribly hard for a girl to take over another girl as a sister. But Kunti swallowed her sorrow and gave her a warm welcome. There she stood showing her quality of acceptance.

One day, while hunting in the forest, Pandu accidentally shot an arrow killing what he thought was a deer, but was actually the coupling Sage Kidimba. The sage cursed Pandu that he would die when he became intimate with a woman. Both Kunti and Madri were directly affected by the curse on Pandu because they were now unable bear Pandu's children. However, a boon given to Kunti by Duruva, enabled her to call upon any God to bear her a child. Accordingly, Kunti called upon Yama, Vayu, and Indra and bore Yudhistar, Bhima, and Arjun respectively. Knowing the fact Madri would feel low as she could not give birth to any children , Kunti accepted to share the mantra's with her. Madri prayed to the Ashwini Kumaras and she bore Nakul and Shahadev.

On one fateful day, Pandu desired Madri and the memory of the curse briefly eluded him. As he pulled Madri into his embrace, death struck Pandu immediately. Madri, filled with remorse, went Sati(Self sacrifice) on Pandu's funeral pyre. Kunti tried to stop her,  but she said that Pandu has always admired Kinti the most and used to tell her as their family's lucky charm. It was always Kunti that Pandu respected the most. Kunti then raised the 5 children as her own. She looked after Nakul and Sahadev with lot of care than the other three. She then reached Astinapur with her 5 children. People of the kingdom could not bare to see Kunti in that way and they welcomed her with their tears.

On reaching Astinapur , the clash between kauravas and Pandavas conceived at the very small age . The kavravas was afraid of the Pandavas valour and their repeated failures and fecklessness against Bhima angered Duryodhana so much that he wanted him dead. He hatched a cunning plot where he poisoned Bhima's food and drowned him in River Ganga. The entire Kingdom searched for Bhima. Kunti made a strong prayer to Vayu deva and cried almost all day long. She promised the Lord that if she didn't get Bhima back she'll self sacrifice her. Thankfully, the Naga king Vasuki saved Bhima and also apprised him of Duryodana's hatred for him. It is also Vasuki who bestowed him the immense strength of a thousand elephants. This showed Kunti's love for her son. She indeed showed equal love for all her 5 sons. So did they. Their mother meant the world to them. She decided to leave Astinapur but Bhishma stopped her and promised her that there would not be any other plots against Pandavas.

After the Pandavas return from their Gurkulam , they had a session to expose their skills were Kunti was so gratified to see her sons with such power and valour. She was extremely delighted to see Bhima and Arjun. On that day she was meant to meet her son Karn. But she was unable to tell it among the people of the kingdom  as that would bring disgrace to her children life. She was happy to see that Karn was brought up by Ayradha in a good way but was sad to see him joining hands with Duryodhana. She never wanted Pandavas to end up in enmity with Karn. She indirectly developed that thought among the Pandavas but the fight between Arjun and Karn soon turned out into vengeance.

Another plot of Kauravas was to burn the Pandavas inside the castle alive. Knowing the plan they decided to leave the castle and to take a war against them. But Kunti said Yudhistar to leave his position as Astinapur's Yuvraj title and to live secretly along with his brothers. According to Dharma it is not ethical for a Prince to leave his kingdom like this but Yudhistar accepted it as he believed that there is no other Dharm above his Mother's words. All the 4 sons agreed that and when they decided to leave the castle Arjun was surrounded by fire and he asked his other 4 brothers to leave him and to take their mother and leave the castle. But Kunti refused to leave the castle without Arjun. The brothers then said that " If anyone among 5 of us is dead , none of us will then live". This shows the bondage that Kunti developed among her sons. Without Arjun they decided to stay in the castle and die. Nakul and Sahadev said if they all are about to die, the fire should reach their mom only after burning them down into their ashes. This showed  Kunti's motherhood that has seen no partiality in raising her sister's sons. Thankfully Arjun came out and along with his brothers they survived from the fire and they decided to live in the forest.

During their stay in the forest, while her sons went to fetch some food she indulged herself in prayer. When her sons came back , Arjun said that he has got something as gift. Kunti without prior knowledge of that gift ordered Yudhistra that whatever they have in life whether gift or punishment the 5 should share it equally. Since it is an order from their mother they were obliged to follow it . Kunti begged sorry to Draupadi whom Arjun has got as a gift. But Draupadi accepted Kunti's words with such respect and agreed to marry her 5 sons. They then reached Astinapur. Her daughter-in-law Draupadi was ill treated , she couldn't resist to see her being treated that way. The kingdom was partitioned and the Pandavas was given Indraprastha to rule. When everything was going good , The Pandavas was invited to gamble by the Kauravas as they knew that they would end up in mere ashes if they go on for a war against them.

As Pandavas lost everything in gambling , their Draupadi was insulted by Duchadhana and was spoken low by Karn . Kunti couldn't bare the insult made to Draupadi and after their 13 years of living in forest they 've decided to take a war against them. Pandavas was supported by Lord Krishna who was Kunti's brother Vasudev's son. During Kurushetra war, Kunti asked her son Karn to join the Pandavas but he refused as he would never let his friend down. As Kunti wanted to save her son Arjun she made her heart strong and asked her son Karn to make a promise that he would use his Bharmasthram only once. This promise was another reason for Karn's fall. When Karn has fallen Kunti busted out into tears and when Pandavas asked for the reason , she said Karn was their elder brother. Yudhistar couldn't accept it as it was unethical to kill one's brother and it was their mother who had hidden such a big secret and he cursed all women that they will never be able to hold any secret. Kunti was half dead when her elder son Karn died. She remained as a mere body with no soul in it as she was a mother who loved her son the most and it has been no day when she didn't worry about Karn.

At the end of Kurukshetra war , Pandavas was given glory and they allowed Karn's son to rule Indraprasth and Arjun's Grandson to rule Astinapur. Gandhari after losing all her sons in the war decided to spend the rest of her life along with her husband. Pandavas thought that Kunti will stay in the Kingdom but Kunti then had no bondage to these materialistic worlds and decided to go to forest along with Gandhari. This shows that Kunti considered all her 6 sons as one and it is hard for her to live without having anyone of them. She then told Yudhistar to take utmost care of Nakul and Sahadev and to never show his anger on them. She made it sure that even though they both were Madri's children , they should never have the feel of growing without their mother. She has been the epitome of motherhood in all ages as the way she lived and the struggles she has been through could never be faced by any other girl.

A mother is more than just a woman
A mother is more than just a wife
A mother has brought to this world a new born
A mother has brought to this world life

A mother is one with love and honor
A mother comforts you day and night
A mother; a new one every hour
A mother teaches wrong from right

A mother knows when you are worried
A mother knows when you are joyed
A mother knows when you are sorry
A mother knows just what's inside

Mata Kunti has been a Great mom indeed....!!!
