This is an incident that is believed to
have happened during the age of Ram who is known for his rule. He remained a
successful ruler and a passionate lover. This is a very short
story related to Ramayana about Ram and a frog. Ram and his brother Lakshman
reached a stream and were thirsty. They went towards the stream to quench their
thirst. Ram struck his arrow into the ground near the stream and went to drink
water. When Ram was back, he pulled out the arrow from the ground. He was
astonished to find blood on the tip of his arrow. He looked down and saw a
small frog. His arrow had pierced the frog, pinning it to the ground. Ram was
sad. He asked the frog, “Why didn’t you cry out when the arrow pierced you?” The
frog replied, “Whenever someone tries to harm me I cry out, “Ram, save me! When
Ram himself pierces me with his arrow to whom can I cry out for help?”

This incident got so deep into me and gave a lot of answers; it also left me wondering how great Ram is as a
person. He was a King and it is not vital for him to go and apologize to a frog
for his mistake that was completely unintentional. He there has explained how
an act of kindness matters no matter how big you are or how small the other
person is. If he is being portrayed as the Lord it is because he possessed
qualities that made him to stand out of the rest. It is not that only Lord Ram
can show kindness but he is the one who has showed that kindness is something
more than a virtue and it is more human rather than divine.

I firmly believe that Ram is a legendary
person who has turned into a Lord because of his attributes, but also believe
that tales about his reign were not fables. A person of such tenderness also
possessed unimaginable valor to win over a war against the mighty Ravan. He was
everything a man could ever be. He was a great ruler and I wish there could be
any politician of this century who could to the least try to rule like Ram.
This incident was not just an act of kindness but also an act of being a
responsible ruler. He was sad for a frog because he cerebrates this as his
fault and this takes a huge part in being a King. He concerns for a frog so how
he would have been to his people, it would have been a blessing to have lived
under his shadow. No matter how fast time flows some legends are always
remembered.

‘Ram’ a person who has taught that being
kind is not a weakness but a virtue to be cherished. In my given time I’d like
to follow his footprints and believe that it will make me a good human. After
all life is an act and Kindness is the theme.
